Prosperity is Not the Result of Chance

Successfull thoughts and actions

Successful thoughts and actions

There is no chance to prosperity and success.  There is no luck involved either.  Prosperity is the result of deliberate thought and action.  That from Catherine Ponder’s book The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity. It is a great book and I recommend you read it.

Let’s look at that statement:

Prosperity is the result of deliberate thought and action.

That changes things doesn’t it?  Deliberate thought deliberate action.  So it is a result of you, and me, us working toward a goal.  Working toward success.  Working toward prosperity.  So I thought I would write out some thought processes and some action steps in order to help you toward your prosperity.

We are the Creators of our Universe

House on Golf Course accross a nice pond

It really bothers me when people say that they can’t control their own lives.  They rely on circumstances, luck, and chance to rule their day.  Because of this they live their lives with no plan of action.  So can they be successful?  I would say no, not by any measure of it.

Those who rely on circumstances, luck, and chance don’t lead very exciting lives.  They Lets take luck for instance.  In sports some people see others as being lucky all the time.  But you talk to any top athlete and they will usually paraphrase the quote from Thomas Jefferson

I’m a great believer in luck and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.  ~Thomas Jefferson

And it is true.  Luck comes from preparation, working hard, and setting goals.  Luck does not come by chance.  You make it.  You make your circumstances, you create the chances you get, so get out there and start creating.  Remember action always beats inaction.  Luck will never fall on someone who is not already moving.

If a person relys on luck and chance they will have no plan.  For some it is ok to live their life with no plan.  To those who are happy bouncing around life and simply enjoying life’s circumstances good for you, but this site is not for you.  This site is for those who want to be the best they can be.  This site is for those who want to improve their circumstances, their luck, and their chance in life.  The best way to do this is to have a plan.  I call them goals.  That is all a plan is, a written set of goals.  We have talked about goals before so go back and review and set goals so that you can become the best you can be, and not rely on the chance that life will bestow it on you.

Finally without a plan to measure yourself success and prosperity will never come.  Ever think of the people who live in the nicer neighborhood?  You know the one with the private golf course that you can only see from the road.  Did they get there by chance?  Maybe but here is the difference.  Those that got there by chance probably do not feel rewarded.  Lucky them I say, but are they successful by our definition?  Probably not.  They probably worked really hard at a job to get there.  That has to be admired.  But are they happy?  Probably not fully.  I am sure that those who got there by chance have things that they would have rather achieved.  They probably work too much to enjoy the golf course.

But, those who got there with a plan, those who created their own opportunities, those who created their own luck and chance.  Are they successful?  ABSOLUTELY YES.  This is the way to enjoy your life.  This is the way to enjoy the journey.  They got the big house on the private golf course (or whatever your goal is) also through hard work.  But when they got what they wanted they were rewarded with inner peace, happiness, and a giant sense of accomplishment.  It is good for them to have this stuff.  It certainly is not meaningless.

So don’t rely on chance, luck, and circumstance.  Create it through your own actions and thoughts and soon you will have exactly what you are looking for presented to you by the Universe.

Take Time For Yourself

In our journey to success and prosperity we sometimes lose ourselves.  We work and work and work.  We try and try and try.  We are focused and diligent.  But what about enjoying our lives?

It seems a little contradictory from the rest of the articles we have on here.  We talk about never giving up.  Always moving forward.  Always keeping focused on our goals.  But if we don’t enjoy it what is it good for?

So I am going to tell you here to schedule some time for you.  Maybe it is taking your dog for a walk.  Maybe you need to sit down with a great fiction book.  I would not recommend the TV (I watch way too much of it) but it also is a good way to unwind.  Meditation is a great way to calm your mind, and take time for yourself.  We will have a article dedicated to Meditation tomorrow.

Taking a little time for yourself will actually help you stay focused and on task.  Have you ever got into that rut where you just can’t think anymore.  Maybe you sit at the computer for hours and you never get anything done.  That is the time to take for yourself.  You will get more accomplished in a shorter amount of time after a short break.  You will sharpen your focus.  Look at Tiger Woods.  Do you think that all he does is play golf?  No.  He actually has said on numerous occasions that he has gotten a lot more done in a short 20 minute practice session than in a long grueling 4 hour session.

The next time you find yourself floundering about, and not getting much done, walk away, take time for yourself, and you will find that when you come back you will be more focused and get more done in less time.

Visualize Your Success

How do successful people know that they are going to be successful? They already see it in their mind. It has been said many times, and in many different contexts, but the human brain cannot distinguish between something imagined and something that has actually happened.

What? You say. How can this be? I know the difference between what is real and what is not real.

Yes of course you do or we would all be schizophrenic. But have you ever had one of those dreams that when you wake up you take a few minutes to decide it it is real or not? What takes so long? Your brain is processing the dream, and where you are when you wake up. If you are in bed then the brain decides that it is not real and just a dream.

Lets take it the other direction. Have you ever done something and remember it like it is a dream? Maybe not as prevalent here but it occurs with athletes quite often. Watch the Olympics next month and you will hear past champion after past champion describe the feeling as being dream like. They will say over and over again that it is like a dream. Why? They have worked so hard to get to where they are that their brain has a hard time processing it. So their brain decides that it is not real. They feel like it is a dream even though it was real.

Where does visualization come in to play. Lets take golf for example:

Professional Golfers have a pre-shot routine, plain and simple. About 96% of them as part of their pre-shot routine they visualize the shot. Most amateurs simply do not do this. So how does this help? Golf is mostly a mental game. By picturing the shot in their mind they are able to imprint it on the brain. Doing this helps with the regular shot because the brain already knows what to do. The brain has already actually made the shot. Now it is a matter of simply using the same thought patterns to tell the muscles to make the shot.

So what can you do? Take some time for yourself and imagine yourself as being what you want to be. Imagine yourself in the perfect body for you. How would you move, how would you live, how would you eat and act? Imagine yourself with a bank account that has more money than you need in it. What would you buy, how would you travel, what things would you have, how would you give it away? Imagine yourself with the perfect mate. See you going out to dinner with the perfect person for you. See yourself walking hand in hand at your favorite spot.

Once you can imagine it you will soon be able to do it. Watch the video from the Secret and let it help guide you through your visualization process.
