Take Time For Yourself

In our journey to success and prosperity we sometimes lose ourselves.  We work and work and work.  We try and try and try.  We are focused and diligent.  But what about enjoying our lives?

It seems a little contradictory from the rest of the articles we have on here.  We talk about never giving up.  Always moving forward.  Always keeping focused on our goals.  But if we don’t enjoy it what is it good for?

So I am going to tell you here to schedule some time for you.  Maybe it is taking your dog for a walk.  Maybe you need to sit down with a great fiction book.  I would not recommend the TV (I watch way too much of it) but it also is a good way to unwind.  Meditation is a great way to calm your mind, and take time for yourself.  We will have a article dedicated to Meditation tomorrow.

Taking a little time for yourself will actually help you stay focused and on task.  Have you ever got into that rut where you just can’t think anymore.  Maybe you sit at the computer for hours and you never get anything done.  That is the time to take for yourself.  You will get more accomplished in a shorter amount of time after a short break.  You will sharpen your focus.  Look at Tiger Woods.  Do you think that all he does is play golf?  No.  He actually has said on numerous occasions that he has gotten a lot more done in a short 20 minute practice session than in a long grueling 4 hour session.

The next time you find yourself floundering about, and not getting much done, walk away, take time for yourself, and you will find that when you come back you will be more focused and get more done in less time.

George Carlin on age.

As you know we lost George Carlin a while back. Although he received a lot of controversy over his language in his acts he was a great philosopher and many many will miss him. I am not even sure if this is all his doing but I received an email and decided to pass it on to you in this post. It is clean so enjoy!

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we’re kids? If you’re less than 10 years old, you’re so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m four and a half!’ You’re never thirty-six and a half. You’re four and a half, going on five! That’s the key

You get into your teens, now they can’t hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. ‘How old are you?’ ‘I’m gon na be 16!’ You could be 13, but hey, you’re gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21 YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There’s no fun now, you’re Just a sour-dumpling. What’s wrong? What’s changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you’re PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it’s all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn’t think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You’ve built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it’s a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80’s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn’t end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; ‘I Was JUST 92.’

Then a strange thing happens. If y ou make it over 100, you become a little kid again. ‘I’m 100 and a half!’
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

  1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay ‘them.’
  2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
  3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer , crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. ‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop’ And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s.
  4. Enjoy the simple things.
  5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
  6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
  7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
  8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
  9. Don’t take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
  10. Tell the people you love that you love them , at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER :
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Professor Prosperity’s Academy: Never Give Up

“Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up”

Those are the famous words of Jim Valvano during his last speech at the 1993 ESPY awards. He died just a short month later on April 28, 1993. This speech has been recognized as one of the greatest speeches of all time, not for the fact that he delivered it basically in his deathbed, but for the courage that it has inspired in many people. His last paragraph is as follows:

“I know, I gotta go, I gotta go, and I got one last thing and I said it before, and I want to say it again. Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever.

I thank you and God bless you all.”

So why bring this up in a prosperity and success site? Because there are some unbreakable truths in the speech. With any success you have to perceiver and keep going. You have to be brave through tough times and never stop.

Find your passion, then be passionate about it. There are over 6 billion (6,602,224,175) people in the world. They need a voice. Be that voice, communicate to others, be the expert, be the one that people will turn to for inspiration. Once you have the commitment to something, the commitment to your passion never give up on it.

I have heard it said before that you can succeed in anything if you never give up. Some will take longer than others, but as long as you don’t give up you will always win, you will always succeed.

Find mentors. Find inspiration. Be a kid again, and post them on the wall, get their poster, get their picture, find quotes from them and put them up around your office, your room, where you spend a lot of your time. If you cannot meet them personally watch their videos online, read their books, listen to their speeches, find media that works for you.

Adversity can make a person do two things, quit, or get stronger. Lance Armstrong was a good bike rider before he got cancer. Most said that he had a ton of talent but would never win the great championships due to his attitude and his work ethic. Once he got cancer things changed. He realized that he had to fight, not just for his life, but for everything that he wanted.

People did not believe that he could come back the way he did, but he came back in a very large way. He came back better than anyone had ever came back from an illness. He was so strong that rumors of drug use overshadowed his accomplishments. No matter what anyone says the facts are this, he is the most tested athlete ever in le Tour de France and he never failed a single test ever. He simply worked harder than anyone else everyday. It all culminated with The Look in the 2001 Le Tour de France when he broke away from the best riders in the world and never looked back again.

So what can we take from all of this?

Health

If you goal and your measure of prosperity is good health it will take time. It will get harder before it gets better but as long as you never give up you will someday be in the best health of your life

Wealth

From the bible to the moder philosophers they all state the same thing. Wealth comes to those who have wealth. It will be a long hard climb to your success but keep going because once you get there you it will only lead to more success and prosperity.

Happiness

Success and Prosperity breads confidence and happiness. Keep going through all of the adversity and you will only become more happy with yourself.

Celebrate your victories, be happy, and don’t give up, don’t ever give up.

Professor Prosperity’s Academy: How to Write Personal Aspiration Statments

Personal Aspirations from Professor Prosperity\'s AcademyWe have learned that a Personal Aspiration needs to be yours, it needs to be something that is for you, by you, and read aloud often for you.  We have learned that it could be a commercial, a mission statement, a set of goals, a list of things that you like about yourself, that you want to change, and objectives of where you want your life to go.  I like to keep mine on another 3×5 card and keep that in my pocket along with my goals for the day.  It helps me to stay better focused.

So how about some examples?

A personal commercial:

“Tom Staley, meet Tom Staley - an important, a really important person.  Tom, you’re a big thinker, so thing big.  Think big about Everything.  You’ve got plenty of ability to do a first-class job, so do a first-class job.

Tom you believe in Happiness, Progress, and Prosperity.

So: talk only Happiness,

talk only progress,

talk only prosperity.

You have lots of drive, Tom, lots of drive.

So put that drive to work.  Nothing can stop you, Tom, nothing.

Tom, you’re enthusiastic.  Let you enthusiasm show through.

You look good, Tom, and you feel good.  Stay that way.

Tom Staley, you were a great fellow yesterday, and you’re going to be an even greater fellow today.  Now go to it, Tom.  Go forward.”

A personal mission statement:

“I am a dynamic, energetic, positive leader.  I live my life knowing that all good things will come to me as a result of my positive actions and thoughts.  Money rains down upon me.  Money comes to me effortlessly.  I coach, mentor, and teach in a positive and effective manner always.  Relationships are the backbone of my life and I welcome them.  I keep in touch with old friends, and find new ones all the time.  I am positive and magnetic.  I am learning, growing and getting better every day in every way.”

A personal list

Aspiration Type Sample Item
Personal Growth I will have insight into why I do the things I do.
Affiliation I will have a committed, intimate relationship.
Community Feeling I will help the world become a better place.
Financial Success I will have many expensive possessions.
Image I will achieve the “look” I’ve been after.
Popularity I will be admired by many people.

There really is no one way to make a personal aspiration statement.  It simply needs to work for you.

So what are the steps?  It is pretty simple really and we have included a Worksheet at the end of the article along with the entire Professor Prosperity’s Academy: Your Mind articles in PDF form

  • Make a list of 5 things you like about yourself.  They can be anything, your looks, your intelligence, your leadership, your ability to persuade people, whatever, just make a list
  • Make a list of 5 things that you would like to change about yourself, or that you want to become.  Again it can be anything, feel younger, look more fit, read more, be more caring, be more positive.
  • Make a list of 5 things that you want for yourself.  Be very specific or you wont get them.  Don’t worry about being too outlandish, think big, act big, get what you want.  You can never get what you want if you don’t tell people exactly what it is.
  • Make a list of 5 things that you want to do daily.  Again be specific, for example 10 minutes of reading, 30 minutes of exercise, 15 minutes of meditation.

Now with this list decide what you want to make.  Do you want to make a commercial, a Personal Aspiration Statement, or a Mantra.

If you want a mantra you are almost done.  Choose no more than 10 of these ideas and list them in short sentence form.

If you want a Personal Aspiration Statement choose 10 to 15 of the items and make a list.  I personally like to mix them up a little bit so that I am not reading them all together.  For example choose one statement from the things you like, then one from the things you wan to be.  After that choose a thing you want to do daily, and then something you want.  It keeps it interesting and gets your brain to jump around a little bit an not concentrate on any one thing.

If you want a commercial you can use anywhere from 10 to all of them.  This can be the most fun, and is the best to record.

Chose the one that fits your personality the best.  Again have fun and use it to your advantage.  This is your statement and only your statement, it is for you and only you.  You can share it but don’t worry about what others have to say about it.  Like I tell my students, how successful do you want to be?  If you want to be successful then you are going to have to do something different to get that success.

Stay Healthier with Positive Thinking and Self Talk

Thinking All of us need to feel healthy and happy in our daily lives in order to feel content with our selves. Positive thinking and self-talk will help us become content and help keep us in a better and healthy future.

If you like your intimate self, then odds will be that you do not need to work to impenetrable lengths at becoming a more appealing and choice personality. People who are well off in their own skin are not the clan who seek to develop or adjust their personalities.

We need to exercise each and every day in order to stay healthy.  By exercising we can improve your self-esteem, confidence, help prevent diseases, and it helps to keep our weight in control as well.

I know you’ve probably been on a million diets and nothing works or tried every exercise program that comes out. You are still 10 pounds over weight and you have no energy to do anything. The cloths you grew out of are still hanging in the closet that hasn’t been worn all winter because they are too small.  Start now and think positive telling yourself that we can get back into those cloths or you will succeed at this new exercise program you want to get started with.

Make some goals like how much weight you want and will lose in the next 6 months.  Tell yourself that in six months you’ll drop a size in cloths.  Don’t think negative and say you’ll never see the day come.

By positive thinking and self-talk, you can do anything you want to do with a little hard work and changes in your life style. Create a list of goals is the first step and don’t look back once you’ve started working on them.  Keep pushing yourself to reach the end of the rainbow.

Start an exercise program today and set a certain time aside just for you. Don’t let yourself tell you that you don’t have time this is negative thinking. Tell yourself that you can find time to do for yourself.

Watch what you’re eating. For sure, don’t let your inner self say that it isn’t possible you already failed twice or more times.  You can do it just watch how much and what you eat.  Be sure to get all the vitamins in that you need in order to exercise and stay healthy.

Think positive and tell yourself that you’re going to eat right so you can do your exercise program. Staying healthy is a way of life and gives you the happiness you deserve.

Stay healthy by stop smoking. Tell yourself that you don’t need cigarettes to be happy and content.  I know your inner feeling are thinking positive because it wants a cigarette but don’t listen stop smoking to be healthier and it will save you money for that new outfit you’ve been wanting.
Positive thinking and self-talk can do a lot for you and your health.  It can help prevent many diseases like cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and help to prevent many other thinks as well.

Depression can be caused from not thinking positive. Your mind will tell you that you have no energy, to stay in bed all day or the house cleaning can wait until tomorrow.  Don’t let depression take over your life.  Stay in touch with yourself and use your self-power in thinking positive. It is much the same effect as is had when a bosom buddy* gives us a sincere compliment about some manner of our character; not fastidious are we content to hear this, but we become more responsive of this gratifying eminence and it helps us to make an unconscious completion to put it forward more.
